**Practicing Gratitude**

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
— Thessalonians 5:18

This devotion explores the transformative power of gratitude. It emphasizes how consciously acknowledging and appreciating the blessings in our lives, both big and small, can shift our perspective, deepen our faith, and foster a more joyful and content existence.

Life can be challenging. We often find ourselves focusing on what we lack, what went wrong, or what we desire. However, Paul's words in 1 Thessalonians offer a powerful antidote to negativity: gratitude.

He doesn't say "give thanks for all circumstances," implying that we should be thankful for hardship itself. Rather, he encourages us to give thanks in all circumstances, meaning that even amidst difficulty, there is always something for which to be grateful.

Guided Prayer: Dear Lord, even when things are going bad in a certain situation, help me not reflect on that, but to reflect on the things I can be grateful, both past and present.

Reflection Questions:

  • What are three things, big or small, that you are genuinely grateful for?

  • Think about a challenging situation you are currently facing. Can you identify even one thing within that situation for which you can be grateful?

  • How can you incorporate a daily practice of gratitude into your life?
